Events, seminars, conferences in Melk Abbey

Melk abbey is an active and vibrant monastery – cultural events and spiritual retreats etc. take place here year-round; the abbey school also uses various rooms for internal purposes. The abbey provides modern meeting rooms as well as Baroque halls.

Upon request these rooms can be rented for events, seminars and conferences.

Newly refurbished rooms in the monastery’s guest house: one big room can easily be separated into three smaller rooms.

The cellar spaces were restored and revitalized for the Lower Austrian Provincial Exhibition in 2000 and have been used for cultural events and exhibitions ever since.

There are two segments:

Small Baroque Cellar

The Small Baroque Cellar, situated under the rooms of the abbot and the prior, was built by Jakob Prandtauer in 1713/1714.

Great Baroque Cellar

“With the greatest of efforts this cellar was quarried out of the rock under Abbot Valentin Embalner, finished in 1652, and filled with wine.”

Equipment, Catering, Accompanying Program

Upon request we can supply presentation equipment such as projectors, screens, flip charts, pin boards,…

For the breaks we would be pleased to organize coffee, tea, sandwiches, cakes,..

For lunch we recommend the abbey restaurant.

For an attractive accompanying program we offer guided tours of the abbey as well as guided tours of the abbey park. Between April and October guests can participate in the monks’ daily midday prayers in the abbey church. We can also recommend a wine tasting in the abbey restaurant (possible for 50 or more persons, with prior reservation).
