STIFT MELK - BASTION

The portal of Melk abbey is framed by two massive constructions: towards the town the Southern bastion and towards the park its symmetrical counterpart, the Northern bastion, which was constructed by Jakob Prandtauer in the first half of the 18th century.
Bastion:
● special exhibition conceived by students of the abbey school
● on the second floor
there is a terrace with a panoramic
view which allows visitors to see not only the surrounding areas – from
the foothills of the Alps to the Waldviertel – but

stairwell with an elevator.
A new outside staircase leads directly from the terrace to the abbey park.
